Alia Sabur has just become the youngest professor in the world. In 2007 she took a temporary position at Southern University in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. On 19 February 2008, the Guinness Book of World Records named Alia the World’s Youngest Professor, a designation held by Colin Maclaurin since 1717, when he was appointed professor of mathematics at 19 years and 7 months of age.
