An article in Korea’s Economic Daily reported that the hottest shoes in Korea were American brand Tory Burch’s Reva Ballet Flats. In the two months since its release in Korea, it has become the number one shoe of choice for women ages 20 – 40. Department store officials say that the shoes have been selling out as soon as they are put out for the past two months.Experts say that Reva’s popularity is due to it’s design. Women like the soft leather low-heeled shoes with the elastic heel for its comfort, they love it because even though it’s comfortable it doesn’t forsake style. Reva also comes in a variety of colors, giving women more choices than the usual black, brown, and white. Due to the popularity of the Reva shoes, the Tory Burch clothing lines have also seen a growing popularity and demand in Korea. In the US, the shoes retail for $95 – $235.Tory Burch is an American Fashion designer who began her own label in New York City in 2004. Her line of goods which include clothes, shoes, handbags, wallets, and accessories can be found in upscale specialty department stores.I wonder if the fact that Tory Burch invited actresses Kim Ha Neul and Blake Lively to New York to launch her line in Korea and do a Vogue Korea photo shoot back in August, had anything to do with the popularity (Burch gave both actresses autographed Reva shoes).I’m sure that posing with the Wonder Girls at a NYC Fashion Week event didn’t hurt at all. I WONDER if they got free autographed Revas too?
